Pros of this trade between the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets

There are plenty of reasons as to why the Bulls would jump at this hypothetical trade package if it were on the table.

First and foremost, today’s NBA is starting to become dominated by wings and versatility. Chicago did a nice job adding a strong 3-and-D wing by signing Torrey Craig in NBA Free Agency, but they could take it a step further with this trade for Royce O’Neale. Having both would undoubtedly form a lethal one-two punch at the small forward position to give the Bulls some excellent versatility at Coach Billy Donovan’s disposal at all times.

Looking at specifically what O’Neale could provide on the court, he’s the ideal 3-and-D forward in today’s NBA. Defensively, he can be used to guard top-notch opposing wing scorers. When players such as Jimmy Butler or Jayson Tatum come to town, having a strong wing like O’Neale to throw at them could be incredibly useful. Offensively, O’Neale is mostly a shooter, and he’s done well in that role throughout his career, having hit 38.4 percent of his triples in his six NBA seasons thus far.

Also, the asking price cannot be ignored here; two second-rounders would be a steal for a player of O’Neale’s caliber. Look at what the Central Division rivaling Milwaukee Bucks did at the deadline in February, where they traded away five second-rounders for Jae Crowder in an attempt to shore up their wing depth. Wings are a priority in today’s NBA, and if the Bulls only had to give up a pair of second-rounders to get a very good one, it would almost be a no-brainer for their front office.

Cons of this trade between the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets

This section could truly be left blank. Other fanbases have had plenty of gripes about the trades proposed in that article, but Bulls fans should have no such complaints. There are little to no holes that can be poked in this trade from Chicago’s perspective.
