Orlando Magic

Another potential possibility that the Chicago Bulls could look toward in an attempt to move off Lonzo Ball’s contract includes the Orlando Magic. Orlando was expected to be in the market for a veteran point guard but after they drafted Anthony Black in the 2023 NBA Draft, I’m not sure that’s a foregone conclusion anymore. If they decided against it, perhaps they could look to use their available cap space to add an asset, while also getting off a contract of theirs.

A Ball and Alex Caruso swap for Jonathan Isaac could work for both teams. To help sweeten the offer, the Bulls would throw in a future first-round draft pick as well. Chicago should be willing to roll the dice on Isaac, who has had an injury-riddled last few years in Orlando, if it meant getting out from under Ball’s contract.

In the process, the Magic would also get the veteran guard that they want in Caruso. With two years left on his deal, he could help mentor the team’s young backcourt and give this team a much-needed veteran presence in the locker room.

This is a swap that could work out for both sides.
