Building an insane trade for Bulls to blow it up

The Western Conference has at least two teams who look poised to make drastic moves to increase their chance of making noise in the playoffs around their do-it-all stars. In the event the Bulls are open for business, each could make a large offer to try and land some of the Bulls’ star power.

The proposed trade by Fanspo.com above isn’t quite legal, as the Los Angeles Lakers cannot trade the 2023 first-round pick they will receive in a swap with the New Orleans Pelicans until draft night. Let’s drop that pick and see how things look, with the Dallas Mavericks landing Zach LaVine and the Lakers landing DeRozan and Vucevic.

The Lakers have been rightfully reluctant to fire off their 2027 and 2029 picks for a marginal gain this season, but this trade actually brings back pieces that can help them win. DeRozan is having an All-Star level season and gives the Lakers another legitimate perimeter creator, while the spacing Vucevic provides will open up the court for LeBron James and Anthony Davis to score inside.

The Dallas Mavericks get to bring in a co-star for Luka Doncic who can also thrive off-ball due to his shooting and athleticism on cuts and rim runs. They make the same style of trade here that the Cleveland Cavaliers made for Donovan Mitchell.
