If you’ve been living under a rock the past month (or perhaps simply over-indulging in chocolate, treats, and all things you’d find in a Christmas feast), then you may have missed out on DeMar DeRozan‘s masterful performance in December. When all seemed lost, he’s somehow propelled the Chicago Bulls back into the playoff picture and has fans hopeful for what lies ahead in 2023.

Over the past 10 games, DeRozan has averaged an incredible 28.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game on 53.2% shooting from the field. To put things into perspective, each of those stats is an improvement on his box score stats from last season, the same year that earned him All-NBA honors.

Yes, DeRozan is once again performing at a true MVP level, even if the Bulls are not nearly good enough to warrant genuine traction in that race. He’s produced several shout-inducing highlights that have earned praise from his peers and fans alike. These incredible plays have also helped produce some unforgettable moments captured in creative ways, like this fantastic camcorder idea from the Chicago Bulls’ official Twitter, as it records DeRozan sealing a big game against the Bucks with free throws.

Chicago Bulls fans and NBA Twitter have had nothing but praise to share for DeMar DeRozan’s excellent play over the past week.

Bulls fans wasted no time getting their jokes in following DeMar’s electric performances, and it’s not hard to see why. Though he covers baseball and the Chicago Cubs over at CHGO Sports, Ryan Herrera already recognizes that we Bulls fans will one day feel nostalgic over DeRozan’s time in Chicago.

It’s difficult remembering the last time Chicago had a player quite as clutch as DeRozan. In just 110 games with the Bulls, DeMar has already compiled a surprisingly lost list of clutch plays, go-ahead shots, and buzzer-beaters. He added to that list in the most critical of situations last Saturday with a tremendous mid-range dagger against the Knicks.

Co-host of The Old Man & The Three podcast with J.J. Redick, Tommy Alter, hilariously likened DeRozan to the villainous Anton Chigurh from the 2007 film No Country For Old Men. DeMar’s cold-blooded demeanor and precision definitely reflect Chigurh, and they both absolutely steal every scene they’re in. I love it!

That game-winner against New York wasn’t DeRozan’s only clutch performance this week, of course, as he completely took over in overtime against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. He scored or assisted on every single Bulls basket in overtime and was the sole driving force to lead the Bulls over Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Bucks.

DeRozan appears primed for another great performance tonight against the Pistons. By popular request from fans, here’s DeRozan going through his pre-game routine of mid-range shooting drills. Against a depleted Detroit squad, DeMar should have plenty of opportunities to put a show on, you won’t want to miss it.

Here’s to hoping he finishes the year out strong and helps the Bulls secure their 16th win (and potentially 17th, tomorrow) of the season.
