In the final game of preseason action, the Chicago Bulls look to claim their third-straight victory and set the tone against the same team that eliminated them in last year’s Eastern Conference Playoffs. This will be a peak opportunity to see how the Bulls’ new offensive schemes stack up against a genuine title contender, and whether or not it’s a sustainable option moving forward.

Each team will be down a vital starter to begin the season, as the Bulls are missing floor general Lonzo Ball while Milwaukee is still awaiting the return of Khris Middleton. Due to this, both teams have had to make several adjustments and test out various lineups in preparation for the regular season.

We may also be treated to a brotherly duel today, as Giannis Antetokounmpo could potentially match up against his younger sibling Kostas Antetokounmpo. After signing an Exhibit 10 contract with the Bulls, Kostas has set his eyes on winning Chicago’s final available roster spot. With the end of preseason just around the corner, Kostas is not alone in that several players tonight will be looking to make a statement game and earn a larger role with their respective teams.

Projected Chicago Bulls Starting Lineup and Injury Report

  • PG: Ayo Dosunmu
  • SG: Coby White
  • SF: Dalen Terry
  • PF: Patrick Williams
  • C: Nikola Vucevic
  • IR: Out – Lonzo Ball, Justin Lewis

Given that Ayo Dosunmu has been given the starting nod in all three preseason contests thus far, it looks like the battle for the point guard spot has finally been decided. I expect Ayo to be featured as the starter moving forward until Lonzo Ball can hopefully make a midseason return. As the old saying goes, when one door closes, another door opens.

Now that the Bulls are experimenting with rotations where Patrick Williams comes off the bench, an opportunity has arrived for Javonte Green to claim his place in the starting five. It’s unclear if Chicago intends to actually have Javonte log significant minutes, however, seeing as how he rested in the first half against Toronto. If Green sits out again, look for Williams, Derrick Jones Jr., and potentially Dalen Terry to serve in his stead.

Staff Predictions

As is often the case for contending teams, the Milwaukee Bucks have the majority of their payroll dedicated to All-Star talent that won’t take the preseason all that seriously. Considering Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday are intentionally being withheld from over-exerting themselves while Khris Middleton still recovers from a left wrist surgery, the Bucks are simply stretched too thin to seriously compete in these games that won’t have any real impact on their season. This is why the Bucks have gone 0-3 thus far in preseason play, staring down a potential fourth and final loss against this Chicago Bulls team that’s quickly picking up steam.

Bulls Upcoming Schedule

Chicago’s regular season kicks off against a brutal four-game stretch against a handful of teams with playoff aspirations. They’ll immediately be put to the test without their point guard around to steer the ship. It’s up to the Bulls now to prove whether they’ll sink or if they’ll swim.
