While the Chicago Bulls entered this offseason believing it would be the summer of Zach LaVine, the emergence of Kevin Durant trade rumors has quickly overtaken the news cycle as the Nets search for a partner to send the superstar to.
Any potential trade for KD is bound to put a massive dent in the receiving team’s depth, but I believe the Bulls are possibly the team best equipped to handle those losses and still remain in contention for an NBA title.
The Chicago Bulls will need to get creative in order to sway the Brooklyn Nets and acquire superstar Kevin Durant via trade.
Although the Bulls are relatively limited compared to other suitors in regards to the future draft capital they’re able to send out, Chicago still has three future first-round picks they can trade away. Those picks in question are:
- Portland’s 2023 lottery-protected first-round pick
- Chicago’s 2027 first-round pick
- Chicago’s 2029 first-round pick
We should expect at least the 2023 and 2027 picks to be included in any potential trade for KD, but it’s tough to say if Chicago would be willing to add the 2029 pick, a year in which Durant will be turning 40 years old.
For that reason, we’re just going to automatically assume at least two picks are being sent Brooklyn’s way in each of these trades even if not listed. Let’s break each of these deals down and evaluate Chicago’s odds at bringing their first true superstar to the Windy City since Derrick Rose himself.
