The Chicago Bulls will be taking a trip to Europe for a regular-season game against the Detroit Pistons as part of the NBA’s international slate next season.

The announcement was made Tuesday morning, marking the Bulls’ first game outside of the United States since they took on the Orlando Magic in December 2018. The showdown will be taking place in Accor Arena in Paris on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, and will be the first regular-season game Chicago has ever played in France’s capital.

The game is also the first time NBA teams have played in Europe since January 2020, when the Charlotte Hornets took on the Milwaukee Bucks shortly before the global pandemic. Officially titled “The NBA Paris Game 2023,” the event will also feature fan activities and NBA Cares community outreach initiatives, per the NBA.

“Having played several games in Paris during my career, I know how special this will be for our players, our organization, and our international fanbase,” said Bulls Executive Vice President Arturas Karnisovas. “We look forward to representing Chicago overseas and are grateful for the opportunity to do so.”

The Chicago Bulls will play an international game in 2022-2023

The Bulls are 2-1 over fellow NBA competition in global games, previously defeating the Jazz in London and the Wizards in Brazil before falling to the Magic in Mexico City. They’re also 2-0 when facing international teams overseas, most recently defeating EuroLeague champions Olympiacos in 1997.

This will be a great opportunity to showcase the new-look, much more competitive Bulls on an international stage, further extending the team’s reach as they look to get back to the top of the Eastern Conference.

All the more reason to re-sign Zach LaVine to a max contract now that they’re guaranteed a spot on the national stage (which should help revenue, right Bulls fans?)

Next. What should Bulls do if LaVine leaves?. dark
