4. Coby White
Lottery picks have an insane amount of expectations placed on them before they step foot on an NBA court. Coby White is no different.
White was taken seventh overall in a draft that included Zion Williamson and Ja Morant. That draft also included Tyler Herro, Jordan Poole, and Cam Johnson– who all were taken after White. It is never fair to compare players because each situation a guy is drafted into is different – making their path much different.
But the expectation for a lottery pick remains, and White’s consistent inconsistency has turned fans off and more importantly contributed to the Bulls’ poor play late in the season. He went through an insane shooting slump to end the season, shooting less than 35% from the field and under 30% from the three-point line.
The Bucks’ length and quality ball pressure will force the Bulls’ star guards DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine to rely on the role guys. White is the most capable shooter of their role players. When the stars get trapped in this series, his shooting will make or break the Bulls.
If the latter ends up happening, it will be hard for management to bring White back– ensuing a possible offseason trade.
