3 players eliminated from postseason that Bulls should target in free agency
1. Donte DiVincenzo
Donte DiVincenzo is a 3-and-D player that can solve a lot of the Bulls’ problems in their second unit. He has good size and championship pedigree, serving as a key part in building the Bucks’ culture during their championship run.
With the Bucks, he started alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday. He and Holiday traded off as ball-handlers in the first unit. Holiday was the primary ball-handler, allowing DiVincenzo to play off-ball as a shooter. In moments where he got the ball in transition but didn’t have numbers, he would pull it out and run the offense. He excelled in the pick and roll with Antetokounmpo and was able to get paint touches to create for Middleton and Brook Lopez.
The next unit was fully operated by DiVincenzo, as he was the primary point guard and top creator for Pat Connaughton and Bobby Portis.
In Sacramento, he has taken on the role of defensive stopper and secondary ball-handler. The Kings have switched up their lineups and rotations too many times to count since DiVincenzo was traded to Sacramento. Yet, he’s still been a key part of their few wins.
With the Bulls, he could be a player who can play alongside the stars and anchor the second unit. As great as Alex Caruso has been for Chicago, he’s best off-ball. DiVincenzo is someone who can play alongside Caruso without compromising the team’s defense and is an overall offensive upgrade from Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu.
More importantly, if Lonzo Ball goes down again, he’s someone who can start at point guard. Of all the players currently at home, DiVincenzo is the best option for the Bulls entering the offseason.
