2. LaVar Ball … Yup, That’s it

Lonzo Ball’s time at UCLA was a very successful experience, which was heavily overshadowed by his father’s antics. From the start of the season, LaVar Ball put a blue and gold bull’s eye on Lonzo’s forehead.

The nonsense got even more chaotic in March. LaVar managed to diss Steph Curry, Bronny James, and the UCLA role players — you know, the guys that Lonzo had to share the court with. He did all of that while Lonzo was trying to make a championship run with the Bruins. The game became secondary, as the family was known for their patriarch’s social presence. Twitter had a field day with LaVar, creating the meme #LaVarBallSays, quoting some of his craziest moments in March.

The meme then evolved into jokes in impossible athletic feats, not just his own impossible declarations.

Finally, the meme moved beyond sports.

The Ball who had to actually back up the talk was unable to and was knocked out in the Sweet 16 by Kentucky in a back-and-forth affair that saw De’Aron Fox drop 43 points on Lonzo. LaVar didn’t take the L quietly though. He went onto blame the white guys on the team for not being able to keep up with athleticism.

Gotta love LaVar.
