Chicago Bulls: Ranking the roster’s craziest March Madness moments
March Madness is here and the chaos is already tearing brackets apart. The Bulls’ roster knows this time of the year all too well.
March Madness is a time known for buzz-beaters, heartbreak and chaos. It’s the time where unknowns become household names while household names get dragged on Twitter. This year has been no exception.
Last week, we saw No. 2 Kentucky fall to No. 15 St. Peters and No. 5 Iowa, who many regarded as a dark horse Final Four team, lose to No. 12 Richmond. No. 8 UNC took down No. 1 Baylor and two other No. 1 seeds — Arizona and Gonzaga — fell to No. 5 Houston and No. 4 Arkansas, respectively, on Thursday. And the madness is far from over.
In case you were wondering what it’s like to get embarrassed in the early rounds (or when your team doesn’t meet expectations), check out the memes that dominated Twitter.
This year’s NCAA Tournament has brought back memories for some star Bulls players.
And to make it relative for Chicago fans, the guys on the Bulls have been a part of the good, bad, and tear-jerking ugly of March Madness. Some were small school players that had to get slapped by the No. 1 team in the first round, while others were on those over-hyped teams that broke America’s brackets.
Here’s the current Bulls roster’s craziest March Madness moments.
10. Patrick Williams’ Dance is Canceled
The 2020 season was a an entire Black Mirror episode that disrupted the world, including in the sports realm.
That year, Patrick Williams was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team and was also named the Sixth Man of the Year. FSU won the ACC tournament and was ranked fourth in the country.
They had a claim at being one of the four No. 1 seeds in the NCAA March Madness tournament. The were better than Duke, Virginia and North Carolina, and UNC was unlikely to even qualify for March Madness that season.
This was best season in recent history for the the Seminoles, but it was cut short. Their one-time dominance over the big four in the ACC and their one clear shot at making a run was swept away by the pandemic. It was a weird time and that season’s FSU team is not talked about enough.
