1. 2021-2022 Matchups (Nov. 12 2021 & Jan 14. 2022)
This season has featured two Warriors’ routes over the Bulls that led to speculation about Chicago’s ability to compete with elite teams. The first blowout came early in the year, when Chicago had the best record in the Eastern Conference.
The Warriors hosted the Bulls in San Francisco in a game that wasn’t ever really a game. Curry came out blazing from the jump, connecting on his first three just one minute into the action. It didn’t matter who was on Curry that night — Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso or the greatest defender you can think of at any point in NBA history.
Curry ended the game with 40 points and nine assists, knocking down nine threes. The worst part of this game for the Bulls’ faithful is when Curry shot from deep on one occasion, he turned and pointed to a fan before it went in.
The second matchup was even worse. While Curry didn’t do as much damage as he did in the first game, he was just as lethal from 3-point range in key stretches. The Warriors hopped out on the Bulls early. Every time Chicago seemed to make a run, Curry dropped a 30-foot bomb on their heads.
The Warriors gave the Bulls their worst loss of the season, smacking them by 42 points. While the Bulls have a poor record against elite teams, many of those losses came while they dealt with injuries. The losses to the Warriors came while the Bulls were fully healthy.
Thankfully, Curry can’t hurt the Bulls again this year unless these two teams meet in the NBA Finals.
