After extending their winning streak to six games by beating the Atlanta Hawks and star point guard Trae Young at home at the United Center on the night of Feb. 24, star shooting guard Zach LaVine and the Chicago Bulls are in a good spot. Following the four-point win over the Hawks on Feb. 24, the Bulls hold the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings ahead of the Miami Heat.

That is a big reason why key stars for the Bulls such as LaVine and five-time All-Star forward DeMar DeRozan are getting so much hype down the stretch this season. This All-Star duo is helping the Bulls elevate their contender status at a timely point of the season.

LaVine, in particular, is a player that will have the microscope on him throughout the rest of the season. He is set to hit unrestricted free agency this summer for the first time in his career. And while it looks like the Bulls are the clear favorite to sign him out of free agency this offseason, it sounds like LaVine is still excited to go through the process.

Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine appears to be prioritizing playoff success first

Nonetheless, LaVine also looks to be keeping his priorities in line down the stretch this season. According to an interview he did with Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report this week, LaVine is still keeping his focus primarily on the potential postseason run for the Bulls over any contract negotiations he’s bound to have this summer.

That is obviously the right way for LaVine to prioritize his goals at this point of the season. If LaVine can finish the season on a high note simultaneous to the Bulls having a successful postseason run, he will get the max payday he deserves come offseason time.

LaVine is definitely putting up the type of numbers he needs to prove that he’s worthy of getting max contract type money on his next deal during the summer. He just got his second consecutive All-Star nod as he’s averaging around 25 points per game, five rebounds, and four assists while shooting 48 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc, and 87 percent from the charity stripe.
