Potential Chicago Bulls’ trade targets among 2022 All-Stars: Karl-Anthony Towns

Most of the names on this list would have to see something pretty extreme happen with their current teams in order for them to hit the trade block in any firm fashion during the upcoming offseason. And that looks to be the case with the now three-time All-Star selection and the reigning 3-Point Shootout champ Karl-Anthony Towns.

This Minnesota Timberwolves star big man is actually looking like part of a budding competitive core in the Western Conference at this point of the season. There is actually something good that the Timberwolves have going for them at the moment with this budding young core featuring the likes of KAT, second-year rising star shooting guard Anthony Edwards, and point guard D’Angelo Russell.

But if the momentum slows for the Timberwolves down the stretch this season, it wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest to see KAT’s name resurface amid various trade rumors come next offseason. KAT was a pretty constant topic of speculation for various trade rumors in the last few seasons. There is a breaking point that the Timberwolves and KAT’s camp could face eventually if this team doesn’t move closer to contender status in the West, though.

If there was a world in the next offseason or two where KAT was available, it’s easy to see how the Bulls’ front office would be intrigued by that prospect. KAT could be a longer-term solution for the Bulls’ frontcourt unit beyond what two-time All-Star center Nikola Vucevic provides for this team.

In the case where the Bulls also can’t get over the hump this postseason partly due to a lack of production from Vucevic when it matters most, it makes sense that Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley could consider a change in personnel.
