Post-deadline buyout targets that make sense for the Chicago Bulls: Paul Millsap

After playing in just two-dozen games with the Brooklyn Nets before getting dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers this season, veteran power forward Paul Millsap didn’t make much of an impact with what was his new team through the first half. Millsap didn’t really get any playing time at all with the Nets either since the turn of the calendar year.

But it looks like Millsap is going to be one of the potential buyout market targets to watch for the Bulls if the Sixers reach an agreement with him in the days and weeks ahead. It would seem like the Sixers would be interested in buying out Millsap given his inclusion in the James Harden trade mostly for salary matching purposes.

Yet, the Sixers might be intent on keeping Millsap around as another veteran voice in the locker room as they look to make a solid postseason push in the East.

I do still believe that Millsap is going to end up with a team that would have a more prominent role for him down the stretch this season. It still feels like he is a better fit with the Bulls’ frontcourt unit than with a team like the Sixers.

If the Bulls had landed Millsap at the deadline, few fans in Chicago likely would be surprised. And the same could be said if Millsap lands in Chicago by way of the buyout market. He could definitely use a change of scenery, and the Bulls might be the right place for him to provide some value in a reserve role in the stretch run this season.
