Chicago Bulls studs from electrifying win over the Spurs: DeMar DeRozan

You could give five stud spots to the now five-time All-Star forward DeMar DeRozan for his insane performance in this win over the Spurs. Facing his former team, DeRozan continued to take his game to new heights when it mattered most for the Bulls. This is the type of game where DeRozan shows why he was named an All-Star starter and should be considered a real MVP contender.

For the seventh game in a row, DeRozan scored at least 30 points for the Bulls. It was also his sixth straight game with at least 35 points.

Another stat that helps you digest just how good DeRozan was on the offensive end of the floor for the Bulls in the month of February so far is the fact that he has scored no fewer than 28 points in nine games so far. This was his second 40-point performance of the month too.

In this win over the Spurs, DeRozan gave the Bulls a game-high 40 points on an efficient 16-of-24 shooting from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. He didn’t have any attempts from beyond the arc in this one.

The fact that DeRozan gave the Bulls 40 points on 24 field goal attempts, without putting down a single shot from three-point range, is just mind-boggling. What’s even crazier is the fact that roughly half his points came in the fourth quarter. He is really the closer that the Bulls need.

The Bulls also got three rebounds, seven assists, no steals, no blocks, and three turnovers from DeRozan in this win over his former team. There was a point in time where DeRozan couldn’t miss from the floor down the stretch. He was truly the deciding factor that got the Bulls over the hump in this one.
