To exact revenge on legendary head coach Gregg Popovich and the building San Antonio Spurs on the night of Feb. 14 at home at the United Center, second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls were looking to improve their winning streak. Donovan and the Bulls won three straight heading into this meeting with Popovich and the stingy Spurs on this night.
But it definitely didn’t come easy for the Bulls to top a struggling and rebuilding Oklahoma City Thunder team at home at the United Center on Feb. 12. Yet, the Bulls still got it done against the Thunder in their last game to extend their winning streak to three heading into this meeting with the Spurs.
In the first meeting between these two teams this season, the Spurs topped the Bulls in San Antonio back on Jan. 24.

This looked like a much different Bulls team, though, on this night against the Spurs. The Bulls closed out this game with resounding energy that saw one player really stand above the rest at the friendly confines of the United Center.
There were times in this game when it looked like the Spurs would be able to run away with this one. A spirited effort led by the duo of rising star point guard Dejounte Murray and sharpshooting wing Doug McDermott held the Spurs in it the entire way.
