Among the most rampant Bulls rumors within the last week or so concerned the potential of Boston Celtics point guard Dennis Schroder to land in Chicago at the trade deadline on this day. But there are now some conflicting ideas coming out about how real these rumors were connecting the Bulls to Schroder.

According to a report from K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago on the night of Feb. 9, the idea that the Bulls were seriously pursuing Schroder from the Celtics was mostly fodder. While he’s not necessarily saying that there was no interest in considering what Schroder could do for the Bulls at the trade deadline, it doesn’t sound like this pursuit was as serious as other rumors made it out to be.

As a stan of the idea that the Bulls should likely pass on Schroder at the trade deadline, this news is pretty welcome for those with the same school of thought.

Were Bulls rumors connecting Chicago to Dennis Schroder overblown?

It will be interesting to see how the trade deadline does play out for the Bulls since this report from K.C. on NBC Sports Chicago ahead of deadline day makes it sound like the front office is planning to be rather quiet. That isn’t the indication that seemed to be coming from the Bulls just a few months ago.

But the recent waves of injuries that impact this team’s depth throughout the rotation likely has something to do with that. That could impact how executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley are viewing potential trade chips such as point guard Coby White and forward Troy Brown Jr.

In all likelihood, it sounds like the Bulls are going to be less aggressive than we first anticipated at the trade deadline. There could be some minor moves made at the trade deadline. But it looks like the buyout market could have more action involved with the Bulls at this point than the deadline on Feb. 10.

Following a nice road win over the Charlotte Hornets on Feb. 9 by a convincing margin of a dozen points, the Bulls are sporting a record of 34-21. On deadline day, the Bulls are sitting in third place in the Eastern Conference standings behind the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks.
