Most valuable trade chips at the deadline for the Chicago Bulls: Coby White

Even more so than DJJ, it feels like the Bulls’ front office will be open to moving a valuable trade chip at the deadline in third-year point guard Coby White. Giving up Coby sounds like a volatile idea at this moment, especially given how short the Bulls are on depth in the backcourt unit.

Injuries to the likes of Dosunmu, Lonzo, point guard Alex Caruso, etc., could put Karnisovas and the Bulls in a tough spot come deadline day if there’s a move to deal out Coby. Wins in the short-term around the trade deadline this season are still going to be important.

And when Coby is on, he can really help contribute to winning efforts for the Bulls. That is very true given the lack of quality backcourt depth for this team otherwise.

What would make it easier for the Bulls to deal out White is if they can get some quality backcourt depth in return. The first potential trade deal that comes to mind in that regard is if the Bulls can do something like getting Grant and veteran guard Cory Joseph back from the Pistons while shipping out Coby along with some other pieces.

Coby is playing well for the Bulls in the last couple of months. He’s cooled down a bit in the last week or so, but his presence in this backcourt unit is more valuable than ever. The asking price for him might be going up a good bit with the strides he’s made in his game on both ends of the floor this season and knowing just how valuable he is to this backcourt unit right now.
