Most valuable trade chips at the deadline for the Chicago Bulls: Derrick Jones Jr.

This list will be comprised of those players for the Bulls that could realistically be dealt at the trade deadline later this week.

Obviously, the Bulls would have their most valuable trade chips being the likes of star forward DeMar DeRozan, shooting guard Zach LaVine, point guard Lonzo Ball, center Nikola Vucevic, rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu, etc., if they were just putting up everyone on the trade block. But that just isn’t the case.

The Bulls players on this list that could be valuable trade chips at the deadline for Karnisovas and Eversley are those that could realistically be dealt come Feb. 10. And first up is the uber-athletic former Portland Trail Blazers and Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr.

Many Bulls fans like what Jones brings to the table for this team. He’s a solid defender, athletic and energetic rebounder, and a good scorer inside the arc. Jones also has a contract that is very tradeable and brings a presence that can still help out other potential postseason contenders.

The other main reason why Jones makes this list of potential trade deadline chips for the Bulls is the fact that he is one of the sole pieces of this roster that can help to elevate the contender status. Landing someone like Grant from the Pistons or Barnes from the Kings likely would require trading a contract like Jones’.

It would be great if there was a way that the Bulls could make a valued addition to the rotation without trading Jones at the deadline. It’s just hard to see that happening unless the Bulls sit quiet at the deadline.
