Former DeMar DeRozan teammates the Chicago Bulls could trade for: Serge Ibaka

Another rather intriguing potential trade target that was mentioned before for the Bulls at the deadline this year is the veteran former Raptors and Oklahoma City Thunder power forward/center Serge Ibaka. This two-time blocks champion, three-time All-Defensive Team selection, and 2019 NBA Champion played together with DeRozan in Toronto for two seasons from 2016-2018.

Ibaka would be a nice fit playing at the five in what could be a pretty versatile and potent second unit for the Bulls. He wouldn’t be the traditional center that the Bulls would get out of someone like Poeltl from the Spurs, but Ibaka would give the dimension of floor-spacing while playing minutes at the five.

You also get the veteran voice that Ibaka brings to the locker room and that valuable postseason experience. Ibaka has played in nearly 150 career postseason games, starting in more than 100 of them.

Ibaka is still a very solid rim protector, with a block percentage north of four this season, and an effective floor spacing, shooting around 38 percent from beyond the arc.

The reason why this potential trade proposal between the Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers is the fact that it fills multiple needs in Chicago. The Bulls ship off Coby and DJJ to the Clippers for a return of Ibaka and veteran wing/forward Nicolas Batum. It gets the Bulls two key pieces that can help to round out the second unit down the stretch this season.
