Bulls Rumors: Adding Coby White to the discussions could make it more realistic to get Jakob Poeltl
The potential trade chip that Karnisovas and the Bulls seem the most willing to part ways with at the trade deadline that could bring a good amount of value to the table is the third-year point guard Coby White. This former North Carolina Tar Heel could make it a lot easier for the Bulls to get a potential trade deal like this one done too.
Yet, it doesn’t sound like the Bulls are as willing to shop Coby as they once were at the outset of the regular season. A bad wave of injuries that recently plagued the Bulls backcourt unit makes Coby more valuable to this rotation down the stretch this season.
The Bulls are currently without the likes of point guard Alex Caruso, DJJ, and point guard Lonzo Ball, among others.
This is why the Bulls could make it more realistic on their side of the discussions to also get the former Duke Blue Devils standout two-way point guard Tre Jones from the Spurs along with Poeltl. The Bulls could get a necessary defensive upgrade on the perimeter by bringing in Jones from the Spurs.
The hypothetical trade deal here sees the Bulls ship off the likes of Coby and forward Troy Brown Jr. to the Spurs for a return of Poeltl and Jones. The salaries match in this potential trade package. But this trade also still hinges on how much the Spurs value Poeltl in their frontcourt unit compared to adding a rising young guard such as White.
