Bulls Rumors: Landing Jerami Grant seems like the most realistic big splash deadline move
If there is a situation where Karnisovas and the Bulls really want to get star forward Jerami Grant from the Detroit Pistons at the deadline next week, and it doesn’t get done, it will be interesting to see why. The reason I would anticipate why any deal between the Bulls and Pistons doesn’t get done at the deadline is the fact that Karnisovas and Eversley won’t budge and Williams, and neither will Detroit’s management.
Williams could be the potential breaking point for both the Pistons and Bulls in this discussion. And that’s why it’s so important for the Bulls to know a few factors that could go into any potential deadline deal involving Grant and the Pistons.
The first is knowing a good target timeline for the return of Williams if he is likely going to make his return to the lineup before the postseason begins. Getting Williams back before the end of the regular season would lessen the need for the Bulls to nab Grant.
A big factor that could also go into the ultimate decision of pulling the trigger to trade for Grant at the deadline could be what other pieces are included. It’s hard to see the Bulls giving up Williams in any scenario that doesn’t get them pieces that confidently puts them in the position to be a real title contender this year.
We can’t even fit all of the moving pieces into this hypothetical trade deal. There are actually four teams involved here. The Oklahoma City Thunder have to get involved to send forward Kenrich Williams to the Dallas Mavericks for a return of Tony Bradley and a future second-rounder from the Bulls.
