Bulls rumors: Cory Joseph brings more stability than Dennis Schroder
A potential trade target for the Bulls that sounds a lot better on the surface than going after Schroder from the Celtics is the Detroit Pistons veteran guard Cory Joseph. The veteran presence and two-way nature of Joseph’s game could provide a lot of value to the second and/or third unit for the Bulls backcourt group down the stretch this season.
It also helps that Joseph is having one of the more efficient seasons of his career to date with the Pistons thus far. He’s averaging around nine points per game this season, two rebounds, and four assists while shooting 47 percent from the field and 43 percent from beyond the arc.
This effective sharpshooting ability from deep is not completely new to Joseph. But shooting 43 percent from downtown is definitely new to Joseph, as that is a career-high for the 10-year veteran.
Joseph could be one of multiple Pistons players available at the trade deadline that are worth looking into for the Bulls. The first name that obviously comes to mind, though, when Bulls fans think about potential trade deadline targets from the Pistons is star forward Jerami Grant. But Joseph is definitely an option worth considering too.
There are two ways that I look at a potential trade with the Pistons to get Joseph going down. The first would be without also getting a return of Grant. And the second would be a major big splash trade for the Bulls to pull off where they can get both Grant and Joseph in the same swing. For the purposes of this list, though, we’re just looking at what it would take to get Joseph.
