Bulls rumors are continuing to ratchet up as we approach the looming trade deadline next week. Chicago’s front office is likely going to be a pretty aggressive buyer at the trade deadline again this year. They’re just probably not going to go after a trade target as costly as center Nikola Vucevic was from the Orlando Magic last year.

Although, it does look like the Bulls have a new point guard target in their crosshairs with the trade deadline upcoming on Feb. 10. According to a report from Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype on Feb. 2, the Bulls could have a trade target to “keep an eye on” at the deadline in point guard Dennis Schroder from the Boston Celtics.

And according to a report from Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report on Feb. 2, the Bulls were already in discussions with the Celtics for a potential deal involving Schroder and forward Troy Brown Jr.

If the Bulls do wind up trying to get Schroder from the Celtics at the trade deadline this year, it would obviously be a notable development. It looked like the Bulls were targeting Schroder out of free agency at one point last offseason. But the Bulls were able to get point guard Lonzo Ball from the New Orleans Pelicans in a sign-and-trade deal, so they didn’t have to sign Schroder.

Bulls rumors connecting Dennis Schroder to Chicago once again as the deadline approaches

With Lonzo and fellow point guard Alex Caruso now injured for a good while, the Bulls look to be seeking out more depth in the backcourt as the deadline approaches. And Schroder is likely going to be one of the more openly shopped point guards at the trade deadline next week.

Scotto often mentions the connection between Schroder and second-year head coach Billy Donovan from their days with the Oklahoma City Thunder as a reason why this fit could make sense. Schroder did play under Donovan in OKC for two seasons.

This rumor is likely going to generate very mixed reactions from the Bulls faithful ahead of the trade deadline. The idea of signing Schroder didn’t seem to go over well with Bulls fans with other point guards such as Lonzo and Spencer Dinwiddie, among many others, available.

It will be interesting to see where this rumor goes for the Bulls with the trade deadline eight days away. Schroder is a potential trade target for the Bulls that would be one of the more polarizing options available this season.
