Bulls Rumors: The third trade that could bring Dennis Schroder to Chicago

There are aspects to that last hypothetical trade deal mentioned on this list that I really like for both the Celtics and Bulls. It accomplishes a lot of what each team could be looking to do at the trade deadline this year. That is except for one major thing for the Bulls.

It sounds like Karnisovas and the Bulls aren’t too intent to give up Coby at this point of the season without a very sizable return. And it’s hard to know how much the Bulls’ front office would actually value a return of Schroder and Richardson for giving up three guards/wings when they are already short-handed in these spots in the rotation this season.

If Schroder is to land in Chicago at the trade deadline next week, I believe the most realistic way to make that happen is by getting a third team involved in the trade talks. This is where Sam Presti and the Thunder come into the conversation.

No team is usually more willing to take on contracts to also add future draft capital in recent years than the Thunder. And that could be the case with these trade talks to get Schroder to Chicago.

Depending on how willing the Celtics are to give up a future second-round draft pick to shed the salary of Schroder at the trade deadline, giving up something like this to the Thunder could make a lot of sense. In this hypothetical trade deal, the Bulls send TBJ to the Thunder, the Celtics send a future second to the Thunder, and Schroder lands with the Bulls. The Celtics don’t get anything out of this deal besides shedding Schroder’s contract.
