Chicago Bulls studs from revenge win over the Magic: Ayo Dosunmu

The play that the Bulls are getting of late out of rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu is nothing short of spectacular. There is no other young Bulls player that is stepping up as much in the spotlight at this point of the season than Dosunmu. And that is reflected in what he is giving the Bulls in the box score game in and game out since the turn of the calendar year.

In the midst of losses of key guards like Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball due to various injury issues, Donovan really found a point guard he can count on in Dosunmu.

More importantly, Dosunmu is playing more of the role of that of a true point guard for the Bulls. More of his minutes are coming at the one of late. That is reflected in the fact that Dosunmu nearly registered his third game in the last month with assists in double digits in this win over the Magic.

On this night, Dosunmu came up one assist shy of getting a double-double. He registered nine assists to go along with his 13 points, one rebound, one steal, no blocks, and one turnover. And Dosunmu shot 4-of-7 from the field, 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.

One of Dosunmu’s three-pointers in this game was a real dagger to put this one away for the Bulls late in the fourth quarter. He was really good in clutch time for Donovan and the Bulls, and making that three-pointer was the perfect exclamation point on a big night for the rookie.

Dosunmu had a big day in general after getting selected among the rookies to play in the Rising Stars Challenge in All-Star Weekend.
