Chicago Bulls fighting for their spot in the rotation in February: Tony Bradley

The narrative of the start of center Tony Bradley‘s first run with the Bulls this season is one that I don’t believe is entirely fair to how productive he was at times for this team. Bradley’s advanced metrics paint an honest picture about his effectiveness coming off the bench for the Bulls more often than not so far this season.

The problem for Bradley with the Bulls’ frontcourt unit is the fact that he just might not be the right scheme fit. The Bulls could use a big man that is more adept at spacing the floor and switching defensively, sometimes coming all the way out beyond the perimeter.

Just making small positive impacts on games this month will need to be the theme of February for Bradley. There were too many instances recently where all that he put on the stat sheet were forgettable numbers.

A good example of that came during a three-game stretch for him from Jan. 23 to Jan. 28. In those three games, Bradley combined for zero points, four turnovers, just one rebound, a -3.2 game score. And all that came while he was a -15 on the floor for the Bulls.

Bradley remained an effective shot-blocker, rebounder, and finisher near the basket in the minutes he did get off the bench this season for Donovan and the Bulls. His turnover problems and seemingly abundant absences in terms of making any impact in his minutes on the floor this season have commanded the narrative for him in Chicago.
