Trade deadline targets the Chicago Bulls must avoid: Ben Simmons

Some of the names on this list of potential trade targets for the Bulls’ front office to avoid at the deadline are going to seem rather obvious. But it’s still worth clearing up which big names around the NBA landscape that are likely to be available at the trade deadline are those that the Bulls should stay away from at all costs.

And the first name up on the list that is a no-brainer is the absent Philadelphia 76ers star point guard Ben Simmons.

The Sixers are essentially getting carried by the efforts of superstar center Joel Embiid so far this season. And that seems to be working just fine for the Sixers through the first half of the regular season.

But the issue is if the Sixers are truly looking to contend in the postseason in the East this year, you would think they would want to bring in some other pieces to help Embiid. The easiest way for them to do that would be dishing out Simmons to a suitor offering them an appealing return at the deadline.

Despite the Bulls being short at the point guard position right now thanks to injuries to the likes of Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball, it should be obvious that the front office stays away from Simmons.

Some other potential landing spots worth considering for Simmons at the trade deadline include the Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
