Chicago Bulls: 2 studs, 1 dud, from scrappy win over Raptors
Chicago Bulls dud from scrappy win over the Raptors: Ayo Dosunmu
This is the type of game that makes it tough to pick a dud for the Bulls. Yet, when you take even one glance at the stat sheet from this game, it becomes pretty apparent that the dud for this team on this night was rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu. While Ayo is still a key part of this starting unit at the moment, this wasn’t really his night.
This is nothing to diminish the importance that Ayo brings to the table for Donovan and the Bulls during this recent wave of bad injuries causing a depth shortage in the backcourt unit. Dosunmu is incredibly pivotal for the Bulls as the likes of point guards Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball are still missing due to various injuries.
Nonetheless, this definitely wasn’t the most productive night we’ll ever see from Ayo. He came up with just seven points on an inefficient 3-of-10 shooting from the field, 0-of-4 from beyond the arc, and 1-of-2 from the free-throw line. Dosunmu also gave the Bulls two rebounds, four assists, one steal, no blocks, and no turnovers.
At least Dosunmu didn’t really have any issues with turnovers in the second half. That is something that couldn’t be said for the likes of LaVine and DeRozan, among a couple of other Bulls players.
But you can’t help but think that Dosunmu wasn’t aggressive enough in this game when he had open looks. That could’ve gone to his head and caused his off shooting night.
