Chicago Bulls: 2 studs, 1 dud from grueling win over the Thunder
Studs from Chicago Bulls grueling win over the Thunder: Ayo Dosunmu
The hot streak continued for the former Illinois Fighting Illini star and rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu in this win over the Thunder. To prevent the team’s losing streak from moving to three games, Ayo put the Bulls on his back for much of this game. And there were plenty of highlights to show from Ayo’s special night in OKC>
He came up with a career-high 24 points and was perfect shooting from the field for much of the game. That included an insanely clutch buzzer-beating three-pointer that he hit from halfcourt at the end of the third quarter. This shot from Ayo at the end of the third quarter helped to stave off some of the momentum the Thunder were building at that point.
It’s rare that I want to talk about individual highlights so much when looking at the overall flow of a game. But when it had a profound impact on the way a game played out, and how memorable of a night it could become for one rookie, it’s worth mentioning over and over again.
Moreover, Ayo came up with his career-best 24 points on an efficient 10-of-14 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. He also gave the Bulls five rebounds, a team-high eight assists, no steals, one block, and three turnovers before fouling out late in this game.
Ayo is really putting himself in a position to make one of the All-Rookie Teams when it’s all said and done for this regular season slate. That is evident by the fact that he’s averaging around 10 points per game, four rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block while shooting 55 percent from the field, and 50 percent from beyond the arc in 13 games played in January.
