Alex Caruso still out for the Bulls vs. Grizzlies on Jan. 17
Looking to right the ship on the afternoon of Jan. 17, second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls are getting set to take on a red-hot Memphis Grizzlies team in a cross-conference battle. Donovan and the Bulls are looking to snap a three-game losing skid before it moves to four on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
And the Bulls will have to face rising star point guard Ja Morant and the Grizzlies without the services of point guard Alex Caruso. While Caruso was taken out of the league’s health and safety protocol over the weekend, he reportedly still won’t be available for the Bulls against the Grizzlies.
Caruso is still trying to get past the status of “return to competition reconditioning”. This looks like a process that is going to take a few days for Caruso.

The Bulls are also set to be missing the likes of star shooting guard Zach LaVine, point guard Lonzo Ball, shooting guard/forward Javonte Green, forward Tyler Cook, and forward Derrick Jones Jr., among a couple of other players against the Grizzlies. This is still a Bulls team that will be extremely short-handed at the outset of this week.
Caruso has missed the last dozen games for the Bulls heading into this meeting with the Grizzlies. This will be the 13th straight game he missed for the Bulls due to various reasons. He hasn’t played for the Bulls dating back to a Dec. 20 win over the Houston Rockets.
But it still looks like a return to action this week could be very likely for Caruso.
The Bulls would also gratefully appreciate a return to the lineup for Lonzo and LaVine this week. Those two guards will miss yet another game early this week thanks to various knee issues.
Caruso and the Bulls are sporting a record of 27-14 following their third straight loss back on Jan. 15 to the Boston Celtics. Tip-off time between the Bulls and Grizzlies on Jan. 17 is set for 2:30 p.m. CT at the FedEx Forum in Memphis.
