Chicago Bulls players that should’ve been waived before Devon Dotson: Tyler Cook
If not for the recent ankle injury to power forward Tyler Cook, he wouldn’t be included on this list. Yet, Cook is now occupying one of the two-way contract slots for the Bulls whilst dealing with an injury that has kept him out for the last seven games. There also isn’t a concrete timetable for a return to action for Cook with the Bulls.
Clearly, the Bulls need help in the wing/forward rotation given the fact that they cut Dotson to add Hill in his two-way contract slot. That’s not to take anything away from Hill after his valiant performance in his Bulls’ debut in a loss to the Boston Celtics on Jan. 15. Hill gave the Bulls some good minutes coming off the bench in his debut with the team.
But the Bulls definitely need as many bodies as possible right now given the number of players absent due to various injuries and the league’s health and safety protocol. Cook could be someone that got a much bigger role with the wave of injury issues for this team of late if he was available.
That’s why it looks like it would make sense for the Bulls to actually let go of Cook instead of Dotson in this time of depth shortage in the 15-man rotation (now actually less than a dozen players available for Chicago). Considering the fact that by the time Cook returns to the lineup the Bulls might have more forwards available, it would make sense to let Hill occupy his spot instead of letting go of Dotson.
