A really tough stretch for second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls of late has amounted to a three-game losing streak and a defeat that left a real sour taste on the night of Jan. 15. Donovan and the Bulls moved their losing streak from two games to three on Jan. 15 in the back end of back-to-back games on the road against head coach Ime Udoka and the Boston Celtics.

That at least was the closest game that the Bulls played against any sort of playoff contender in a while. The Bulls were beaten in three of their previous four games by teams with winning records earlier in the week, each by convincing double-digit margins.

The struggles for the Bulls really started when they fell short to superstar point guard Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on the road on Jan. 9 by the final score of 113-99. That was the first of what is now four losses in the last five games for the Bulls.

And then, the Bulls were handily defeated by a combined margin of more than 50 points by the Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors on Jan. 12 and 14, respectively. That’s why it was so important for the Bulls to start to right the ship in a key meeting with the Celtics on the road this weekend.

Yet, the Bulls still fell short in the end to the Celtics by a score of 114-112. The Bulls just couldn’t close that one out late. But there were still some positive signs that emerged for the Bulls against the Celtics in terms of some younger players that stepped up in the spotlight.

That was actually an emerging trend in the last couple of weeks for the Bulls. Here’s a look at three younger players standing out for the Bulls as the team struggles to find success in the win column.
