Good news came down for the Chicago Bulls this weekend less than 24 hours after one-time All-Star shooting guard Zach LaVine went down early in a game against the Golden State Warriors with a knee injury. LaVine injured his knee after playing in roughly just four minutes against the Warriors on the night of Jan. 14.
It was scary to see LaVine go down with an injury in the way he did. He was visibly hurting and frustrated once he injured his knee in that game against the Warriors. And he essentially headed to the locker room right after the injury first happened.
Not too long after the injury first occurred for LaVine, the Bulls got him an MRI to see what damage had occurred to the knee. The good news is that the Bulls didn’t really have any damage come back on the MRI.
Chicago Bulls get mostly good news back from the MRI for star Zach LaVine
More specifically, there wasn’t any structural damage that came back on the MRI.

All in all, it’s sounding like LaVine won’t miss any “significant time” for the Bulls after this injury. That is good news also considering how many other key pieces the Bulls are missing due to various injuries/the league’s health and safety protocol right now.
The Bulls are also missing the likes of point guard Alex Caruso, forward Derrick Jones Jr., shooting guard/forward Javonte Green, and second-year forward Patrick Williams right now. Add LaVine to that list of injured players for the Bulls that are out for the rest of the weekend.
The timetable for LaVine’s return isn’t set yet. But it looks like it should be by around the middle or end of next week. The timetable for LaVine’s return along with Green could be pretty similar. Hopefully, LaVine will be able to return at least near 100 percent for the Bulls in a matter of a couple of weeks.
LaVine is going to miss the back end of the back-to-back games for the Bulls against the Boston Celtics on the road on Jan. 15. A LaVine-less Bulls team is set to try to snap their two-game losing skid against the Celtics on Jan. 15, with tip-off time set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
