Chicago Bulls trades to right the ship immediately: Add a fourth star in Jerami Grant

Although it doesn’t look quite like it right now, the Bulls do have one of the more formidable big threes in the Eastern Conference on paper this season. The trio of star forward DeMar DeRozan, center Nikola Vucevic, and LaVine should be enough to get the Bulls into the playoffs at least as a top three or four seed.

The problem is going to be when the Bulls need to really get over the hump in the postseason. If and when the Bulls face a healthy Milwaukee Bucks team, the Nets at full strength, and/or a Miami Heat team that has a ton of depth, the Bulls will run into some challenges in the postseason.

This is why it makes so much sense for the Bulls to go after a true standout two-way forward in Jerami Grant from the Detroit Pistons. Grant is the type of forward that can provide a spark for the Bulls on both ends of the floor while averaging at least 20 points per game, five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block.

I do want to note here the fact that Grant is still working his way back from injury. He is likely to return for the Pistons around later this month or early next. In a sense, this wouldn’t technically bring the Bulls’ help immediately. But it would certainly be a nice acquisition to get Grant to the Windy City that could launch the Bulls’ starting unit once Lonzo and LaVine are back healthy.

In this particular hypothetical trade deal, we have the Bulls getting something similar done with the Pistons compared to what could be done with the Kings to land Barnes. I’ve pitched this trade idea before, but it might make more sense than ever now. The Bulls ship off Coby, DJJ, TBJ, and a future first to the Pistons for a return of Grant and Rodney McGruder.
