Detrimental Chicago Bulls absences in January: Javonte Green

One of the less frequently discussed absences for the Bulls of late due to an injury issue is the former Boston Celtics shooting guard/forward Javonte Green. This underrated two-way wing is one of the most versatile and gritty players that Donovan and the Bulls have to rely on this season.

As is the case with Caruso, the importance of Green in this rotation really came to the forefront in the last few games. The Bulls struggled to defend against many bigger guards and forwards in their losses to the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 9 and the Nets on Jan. 12. Having the likes of Green and Caruso in the mix could change that narrative.

Green does a lot of the dirty work that other Bulls players aren’t accustomed to doing. He’s also one of the better and more aggressive one-on-one defenders in this backcourt/wing rotation. Green has also developed his game to become more of an off-ball threat on the offensive end. He’s shooting nearly 37 percent from beyond the arc so far this season.

All in all, Green is one of those players that a lot of people don’t truly appreciate until he is gone. The intensity, athleticism, and toughness that he brings to the table for the Bulls on both ends of the floor is clearly something this team misses right now. He is also someone that can fill the void in the starting unit left by Williams. With Jones out now too for at least a month, getting Green back has become
