Free agents that would’ve made the Chicago Bulls worse than they are now: George Hill

There was a point in time where I felt like the Bulls could really use the veteran presence of a player like the Milwaukee Bucks and former Oklahoma City Thunder point guard George Hill. And that time was as recent as last season.

But with some of the recent developments in terms of the play of rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu and third-year point guard Coby White in the first half of the regular season, adding someone like Hill to the mix would make it way too crowded.

The backcourt unit might be the most crowded part of the entire rotation for the Bulls at this point of the season. The rise of key players such as point guard Alex Caruso, along with Coby and Ayo, has lifted the second and third units to heights that weren’t expected during the preseason.

Another important point to make here is that the Bulls actually parted ways with some serviceable veteran guards last offseason. Not only was parting ways with combo guard Tomas Satoransky a good idea to be able to sign point guard Lonzo Ball away from the New Orleans Pelicans, it symbolizes that this team has found their stride in the backcourt.

A player like Hill would be a solid veteran addition to the second or third unit for a team that needs the help depth-wise. And that’s what made Hill a better fit with a team like the defending NBA Champion Bucks last offseason compared to a team like the Bulls.
