Potential early Chicago Bulls buyout market targets: Thaddeus Young

This list of potential buyout market candidates to watch for Karnisovas and the Bulls in the near future is comprised of plenty of current and former Chicago and Indy players. The next up that has played for both the Bulls and Pacers in recent years (just like Holiday) is the San Antonio Spurs veteran forward Thaddeus Young.

Young is someone that could add a forward that brings a solid defensive presence to the table and someone who can facilitate the second unit of the offense from the inside out. He proved that last season with the Bulls.

Would Young entertain the idea of signing with the Bulls if he is bought out by the Spurs this season?

I honestly don’t know.

It doesn’t sound like Young was anticipating getting traded in the first place last offseason. And it was less than six months ago that the Bulls’ front office sent Young to San Antonio in that big-time sign-and-trade deal that got four-time All-Star shooting guard/forward DeMar DeRozan to Chicago.

The practical idea of Young coming to Chicago down the stretch this season sounds really good, though. It was clear last season, when Young looked like one of the most improved players in the NBA, that Donovan and this staff found a role for the 33-year-old veteran that could make the most of his skill set.

In many respects, Young had his best season in the NBA to date when he rebranded his game with the Bulls. Following that train of thought, maybe the idea of returning to Chicago for a reunion with the Bulls wouldn’t sound all that bad to Young.

He could definitely play a valuable second unit role at the four or the five for this squad.
