3 most underrated Bulls players nearing the halfway mark
Underrated Chicago Bulls players nearing the halfway mark: Javonte Green
You can’t talk about players that have risen to the occasion in new roles this season for the Bulls without mentioning the play and confidence of shooting guard/forward Javonte Green. The former Boston Celtics defensive standout two-guard is one of the most underrated and versatile players that the Bulls have in the rotation this season.
Donovan and the Bulls didn’t really miss a beat in terms of finding a replacement in the starting unit once second-year forward Patrick Williams went down with the rest of the regular season with a wrist injury. Green has filled a role often in the starting unit very admirably for the Bulls so far this season. And that is likely to remain the case until the Bulls get P-Will back in the rotation.
There is one hiccup that Green has hit at this point of the regular season, though. He’s likely to miss at least the next couple of weeks for the Bulls in dealing with an adductor injury. Green missed the last two games for the Bulls for that reason.
In the nearly 30 games that Green has played in for the Bulls so far this season, he’s doing about everything you could ask of him. He’s grinding out to get some tough rebounds, creating second-chance opportunities, and playing solid on-ball and help defense.
And when he is actually the one shooting the ball from the field, he’s efficient from two and three-point range. He’s shooting around 50 percent from the field, 36 percent from beyond the arc, and 80 percent from the free-throw line so far this season.
Green is someone that is rising to the occasion in a big way for the Bulls out of the gates this season. But it still seems like he’s not talked about nearly enough.
