Big trades the Chicago Bulls could pull off in 2022: Get Cam Reddish while he’s on the up and up
A potentially cheaper trade option for the Bulls ahead of the trade deadline this season could be the former Duke Blue Devils five-star recruit and Atlanta Hawks third-year small forward Cam Reddish. It’s hard to know how much the Hawks will value Reddish now on the trade market given the increase in his production of late. But he should still be cheaper than a trade target like Wood.
There’s a lot that Reddish could do for this Bulls’ rotation that could help add depth on the wing/forward unit. And he could also do a lot of what the Bulls lost with Williams out for the rest of the regular season. That would be very valuable for the Bulls to have before making any sort of postseason run this year.
In the midst of all the absences in the last few weeks around the NBA due to the COVID-19-related issues and the health and safety protocol, Reddish got his chance to shine in the spotlight. And he looked to have made the most of it.
During the month of December, Reddish had his first real sustained month of significant success in the NBA. He was also solid for the Hawks throughout October. In December, he averaged around 15 points per game, two rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. And he shot around 40 percent from the field, 39 percent from beyond the arc, and 91 percent from the free-throw line.
The efficient floor spacing, solid on-ball defense while being able to switch between the one and the four in matchups on that end of the floor, and the underrated playmaking ability of Reddish could make him a unique presence in this rotation. If the Hawks aren’t asking too much for Reddish, I think this would be a solid trade target for the Bulls this season.
On the Bulls’ end of the spectrum with this hypothetical trade scenario, this deal could actually hinge on how much the front office values White compared to Reddish. In my eyes, it’s tough to sell a Coby trade with the way he’s playing right now, but Reddish could be a more valuable fit if Williams is set to miss any time during the playoffs too.
