Big trades the Chicago Bulls could pull off in 2022: Get Christian Wood from the Rockets

Among the more hotly discussed potential trade targets for playoff contenders around the NBA this season is the Houston Rockets standout big man Christian Wood. And while it seems like there could be some better fits out there for Wood than the Bulls, this would not be the worst landing spot for him either.

The Bulls would offer Wood a spot to immediately come in and contend to make a deep run in the postseason. He would also be playing with the best supporting cast of his career to date with the Bulls. It would be really impressive for the Bulls to put together a starting unit consisting of Wood, Vucevic, LaVine, DeRozan, and Ball.

Wood could also come in and really boost the Bulls bench right away in more of a sixth man role that rotates into the starting unit every once in a while. Imagine a second unit consisting of the likes of White, Caruso, Wood, and DJJ. That would probably be the best second unit in the Eastern Conference, if not the entire NBA.

That is better than some starting units even.

Granted, getting Wood from the Rockets definitely wouldn’t come cheap to the Bulls. They would likely have to part ways with some significant player assets and/or draft capital. At least Wood’s contract isn’t all that much for the Bulls to take on. He’s due around $13.5 million in average annual value through the end of next season.

This trade proposal really hinges on two things. The first is how much the Rockets would value someone like forward Patrick Williams or Coby. And the second is how much the broader asking price would be for Wood.
