Chicago Bulls players who were spectacular in 2021: DeMar DeRozan
There is no single addition to the Bulls roster that the fans should be more thankful for than the four-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA shooting guard/forward DeMar DeRozan. The Bulls got to the place where they are today largely thanks to the efforts and the production of DeRozan after he arrived in Chicago in the sign-and-trade that sent Young to San Antonio.
While there were skeptics about what DeRozan would ultimately bring to the table for the Bulls this season (including myself admittedly), he is a great fit for this team. DeRozan is an under-the-radar MVP contender this season. The same could largely be said for LaVine.
But in all likelihood, the Bulls are going to get two All-Stars and two players that compete for All-NBA Team selections. With the way they’re playing right now, though, DeRozan and LaVine easily look worthy of All-NBA Team honors.
For DeRozan, in particular, this season is about revitalizing his career in a different sense. DeRozan already was largely able to reinvent his game as a member of the Spurs in the last few seasons. He also competed among the better teams in the East within the last decade as a member of the Toronto Raptors.
DeRozan is putting up numbers this season that he hasn’t since the mid-2010s. And he’s doing it all while leading the Bulls to be one of the top teams in the East. Averaging 27 points per game, five rebounds, and five assists is something that both LaVine and DeRozan are doing in their sleep. There’s just something special about the way that DeRozan is doing it this season.
