Chicago Bulls players standing out with Chris Fleming as the interim: Zach LaVine

There’s no doubt that one of the two best players this season for the Bulls is the one-time All-Star shooting guard Zach LaVine. The Bulls truly have one of the most potent duos in the NBA between LaVine and star shooting guard/forward DeMar DeRozan this season. But LaVine is the one between him and DeRozan that is standing out of late.

LaVine is on fire the last few games for the Bulls. His return from the health and safety protocol after the Christmas break was an obvious major boost for this team. In the last three games, LaVine is playing some of his best basketball of the season so far. And that says a lot given the fact that LaVine was already playing at an All-Star level prior to entering the protocol.

In the Bulls win over the Hawks on Dec. 29, LaVine was insanely efficient shooting from the field and beyond the arc. He registered an impressive 25 points on just 13 field goal attempts. He shot 10-of-13 from the field and 5-of-7 from beyond the arc against the Hawks on Dec. 29.

In the three games with Fleming as head coach, LaVine has nailed five shots from beyond the arc in each outing. He hasn’t shot less than 50 percent from the field or from beyond the arc in the three games with Fleming as the interim either. We also shouldn’t gloss over the fact that LaVine registered at least 30 points in the Bulls back-to-back games against the Indiana Pacers and Hawks on Dec. 26 and 27. He also is averaging around seven assists per game with Fleming serving as the interim.
