Trade targets on the Chicago Bulls Christmas wish list: Harrison Barnes

A potential trade target for the Bulls that could be a realistic one to go after for the front office ahead of the deadline this season is the Sacramento Kings standout forward and one-time NBA Champion Harrison Barnes. What Barnes brings to the table on both ends of the floor makes him a nice fit for what Donovan and the Bulls are trying to do this season.

Barnes is a quality two-way forward that is a really good scorer. He is a potent shooting threat in terms of creating his own looks or as a catch-and-shoot weapon from the outside. Barnes is shooting north of 52 percent on corner three-point attempts so far this season.

While Barnes isn’t necessarily the best on and off-ball defender, he isn’t necessarily a bad one either. He’s averaging around one steal per game this season with a defensive rebounding percentage north of 16. Barnes would be a step down from someone like Williams or forward Derrick Jones Jr. in terms of defensive contributions.

But it’s not competition comparing what Barnes could bring to the table in terms of offensive production for the Bulls with someone like Williams or Jones. He could be a solid scoring threat that adds some punch to the forward rotation that also excels off-ball along with the likes of stars Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. Having someone else that can give star center Nikola Vucevic more room to space the floor should only be a positive thing for the Bulls too.
