Trade targets on the Chicago Bulls Christmas wish list: Myles Turner

With so many potential Pacers players on the move ahead of the trade deadline this season, it is definitely worth the time of the Bulls’ front office looking into what the true cost of a player like standout center Myles Turner would be. The former Texas Longhorns star big man Turner is definitely one of the most hotly discussed trade chips on the block of late.

While it would likely cost the Bulls a lot to trade for someone like Turner from the Pacers ahead of the deadline, it might be worth it. There’s no doubt in my mind that the Pacers asking price for Turner will be lofty. But this is something that could really move the needle for the Bulls in terms of elevating their contender status right away in the East.

The reality of the Bulls going after a trade target as ambitious as Turner likely hinges on how much the front office truly values the likes of second-year forward Patrick Williams and third-year point guard Coby White as staples for the future of this franchise. I do firmly believe that the front office values Williams a lot. Yet, it’s clear that Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley are focused on the Bulls winning now, and not necessarily building another young core for the long haul.

There’s no easy way for the Bulls to make a trade happen with the Pacers to land Turner without getting a third team involved. That’s why the front office really has to be sold on the idea of Turner moving the needle for this team in terms of postseason success to invest so much in getting him to come to the Windy City hypothetically this year.
