Most disappointing new signings for the Chicago Bulls this season: Tyler Cook

The good news regarding this list is the fact that it doesn’t really include any players that are parts of the starting unit or really even a significant part of the rotation. That is a sign of good roster-building by the likes of executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley since the trade deadline last season.

Moreover, the first player up on this list makes it more for the reason that I would like to see a little bit more usage out of him in trying times like the Bulls just faced than they actually played him. The former Pistons and Nets forward Tyler Cook looks to have some potential for the Bulls in the third unit off the bench.

But with the Bulls working their way back to full health coming out of the Christmas break, the opportunity to give Cook more playing time with a short bench could have already run out. It’s likely time that Cook will be sent back to the G-League affiliate Windy City Bulls with the Dec. 22 meeting with the Raptors getting postponed.

Despite the Bulls having more than half of their original rotation entering the league’s health and safety protocol in the last couple of weeks, Cook has only played in four games and 26 total minutes so far this season.

In his four games played this season, Cook averaged around five points per game, one rebound, one assist, no steals, and no blocks. While Cook’s stats aren’t going to blow anyone away, he has yet to really get a shot to make an impact. That is why he makes this list in the first place.
