Chicago Bulls players viewed as legit trade targets: Coby White

At this point of the season, it feels like the lone actual player that the Bulls are going to shop ahead of the trade deadline this season is the third-year former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard, Coby White. There are other potential players that the Bulls’ front office could look to shop this season, but Coby seems like the most likely.

I know that I’ve pitched quite a few trade packages for Coby this season if the Bulls are looking to the trade route to reach that next level of contender status. Coby is definitely someone who can provide value for the Bulls as an offensive spark plug coming off the bench. But there are other guards on this roster that can do the same thing.

Rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu’s emergence does make it difficult to see a long-term spot for White in this backcourt unit. Dosunmu is also an energetic guard that can provide an offensive spark off the bench. And it looks like he can have more of a consistent two-way impact in the Bulls’ backcourt unit compared with White.

If there was a “realistic” trade chip for the Bulls to use this season, I would consider it to be Coby. I still firmly believe that there is a bright future ahead for White if he can find the right situation to develop his skill set. But it doesn’t look like that will be coming with the Bulls anytime soon. While he still has a good amount of trade value and a promising future ahead, it makes sense to trade White pretty soon.
