The writing was on the wall as the hours went by on the morning of Dec. 22 that the meeting between the Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors at the United Center could be in danger of not happening. COVID-19-related issues on both sides, namely with the Raptors, though, definitely put the status of this game in doubt.

And the news officially came down late in the morning of Dec. 22 that the Bulls and Raptors will not be facing each other at the United Center in Chicago on this night. This is the second time that the Bulls and Raptors had a game postponed just in the span of one week.

The Bulls and Raptors were also supposed to face each other on Dec. 16. But that was one of the two games that the Bulls had postponed last week namely due to their own COVID-19-related issues. But as more Bulls players came out of the league’s health and safety protocol this week, it looked like this Dec. 22 with the Raptors could happen.

Now the Raptors are having their own outbreak of COVID-19 cases on their team. The Raptors now have well over half of their original rotation out due to the health and safety protocol.

Chicago Bulls vs. Toronto Raptors game on Dec. 22 officially postponed

The report came down first from Shams Charania of The Athletic/Stadium on Twitter on the morning of Dec. 22 that the meeting between the Bulls and Raptors on this night will be postponed. The NBA also confirmed this in an official release from the league a few moments later.

While it’s happening a little too fast for the league to update to the moment that it’s first reported right now, you can follow a list of all of the postponed games around the NBA here.

This is the third game postponed for the Bulls so far this season. The other two were the first meeting that was supposed to happen against the Raptors this season, back on Dec. 16, and a home meeting with the Detroit Pistons on Dec. 14.
