3 players the Bulls should trade for not named Myles Turner
Players not named Myles Turner the Chicago Bulls could trade for: Christian Wood
A more potentially complicated trade target for the Bulls to after compared to someone like Forbes from the Spurs is the standout Houston Rockets power forward Christian Wood. This uber-athletic 6-foot-10 and 215-pound big man is not having his usual efficient season for the Rockets, and that’s likely why he could be shopped as the deadline gets closer.
The Rockets are going into full rebuild mode to build around the likes of rookie combo guard Jalen Green and rookie big man Alperen Sengun. And Wood could be one of the casualties, along with veteran point guard John Wall, as the Rockets continue to look to go through this rebuild.
If the Bulls could find a way to get a deal done with the Rockets to land Wood, it would obviously be a tremendous boost to the strength of this rotation. The Bulls could really use someone that helps with rim protection, rebounding, and inside scoring, such as Wood. He could be a nice compliment for the Bulls alongside someone like Vucevic in the frontcourt unit.
Donovan and the Bulls might not want to use Wood in the starting unit with Vucevic. But he could be a spearhead to a second unit that would then be one of the unquestioned strongest in the East.
Wood does also have a rather affordable contract, which now has two years left on it. He’s set to make around $13.5 million in average annual value through the rest of the life of his current contract.
Depending on what the asking price will be from the Rockets for Wood, this is definitely a potential trade target worth considering for the Bulls as the deadline approaches. I know that this trade proposal could be undershooting what the Rockets are looking for, but these discussions must be ones that the Bulls tread lightly with. This should be a starting point for discussions hypothetically if nothing else.
